This is a Pre-Owned, White Rogers OEM NATURAL GAS water heater temperature control valve. It was removed from a 40 gallon Rheem residential water heater with a leaking water tank. Our Licensed Master Plumber is a water heater trouble shooter & repair specialist with 60 years of experience. He has cleaned this gas valve and bench tested it for proper function and accuracy. This gas valve can be used on most Rheem, Ruud, Richmond, GE, WKing, Protech and Vanguard 30-gallon and 40-gallon natural gas water heaters. Check the part number on the gas valve you are replacing to make sure this part number is the same. The water column (pressure) rating is 4.0 inches of water column. Temperature setting range is 70-160 degrees Fah.Rheem part # is: AP14270C,White Rogers part # is: 37C73U-832The gas valve may show signs of prior use with scratches, etc. and will likely have some white calcium deposits on the temperature probe that inserts into the water tank. This is the result of calcium in the water which is known as "hard water" and is a common feature on pre-owned gas valves. It causes no problems with regard to the operation of the gas valve and is basically just cosmetic in nature.
