Vintage French First Day Cover honoring writer Émile Zola, postmarked in Paris on February 4–5, 1967 with distinctive “Littérature et Philatélie” pictorial first-day cancellations.
Features the 0.30 + 0.10 franc Émile Zola commemorative stamp and an illustrated historical cachet depicting Zola and a scene referencing his novel La Fortune des Rougon / Pierre Rougon. The reverse of the envelope includes a printed French-language biographical chronology of Zola.
Also included is the original vintage dealer research note discussing Zola’s literary career, naturalism, and his prominent role in the Dreyfus Affair through “J’Accuse.” The note reflects the language and perspective of its period and is retained as part of the collection’s historical provenance.
