Here is quite an unusual signed and dated bottle whimsey that was created in Shickley, Nebraska in 1937.
Has some very nicely made tools and such with most everything marked by the maker VERNON ROTH.
This well made whiskey bottle piece is highly personalized by the original maker, the internal wooden cross piece that locks the hardwood stopper is marked in pen or pencil on one side that saysMADE BY VERNON ROTH SHICKLEY, NEBR 1937, and on the opposite back side of the cross pieceOCT. 1937 THE DAYS OF OLD, most of the internal hand made wooden tools are either marked, dated, or initialized V.R.. one piece even says YE OLD BUCK 1937.
Measures about 7 inches in height and 3 inches across, half pint flask shape, 1930s era.
In very good condition, no real damage, no chips or cracks that I see, clear glass, all tools are intact, all signatures and marking legible, really an overall nice example of a 1930s bottle whimsey sculpture.
