Extremely rare early American silver plated tea or coffee pot produced by William Worcester Lyman. Silversmith mark indicates patented October 15, 1867. Lyman produced mostly pewter items having worked as a pewtersmith in Meridan, CT from 1842-1844. Silver plating was still a relatively new process having been invented in 1742 in England. This teapot was re-plated 50 years ago in Charlotte, NC as it was in poor condition. Pot is 9" Tall, 9 1/2" Wide from handle to spout, and 5 1/2" Diameter at it's widest. Very solid workmanship.
