Extremely Rare 1959 Dick Bruna Illustrated KIND LITTLE JOE By Vera Cerutti. Dick Bruna notable and famed author and illustrator of many children’s books over 200. He is well known for his Miffy book series. In my research as to the rarity of this book this is the information I have found. Of the first 7 picture books by Dick Bruna between 1953 - 1959, only two were selected to be published in the United States, Kind Little Joe and The Happy Apple both published in 1959. Because he was an unknown at the time, many books must have not been saved. There are versions of this book with and without dust jackets. The ones without may have been produced for libraries and schools. This book is without a Dust jacket. However, there are no indications of having had any library pockets or markings on this book. See photos for condition and description of this book. Things to note are pencil or graphite marked on a few pages. An inscription to inside front cover. A mark on back cover. The back and front bottom about 1/2” has pulled away from spine and is still attached. Please see photos of condition. This book comes from my personal collection of children’s books.
