Explorations in South-West Africa by Thomas Baines 1864 1st Edition Illustrated For Sale

The book\'s sub-title is: \"Explorations in South-West Africa being an Account of a Journey in the Years 1861 and 1862 from Walvisch Bay, on the Western Coast, to Lake Ngami and the Victoria Falls.\"The preface, by M.A. Baines, states that this book was written by his son, who accompanied Mr.James Chapman on the Zambezi journey. Mr. Baines was the appointed artist to the Zambezi expedition under Dr. Livingston. After a severe illness Baines was determined to continue his journey and built two copper boats which were used on the journey. Because of the author\'s illness, the book was written in two parts, accounting for the fact that Chapter XV, pp. 390-458, appears after p 413. This is how it was printed.
