The Ballet Class, dated 1871–74 by the Musée d\'Orsay, depicts dancers gathered in a rehearsal room around the ballet master Jules Perrot. Rather than presenting a formal stage performance, Degas records dancers resting, adjusting their costumes and hair, stretching, and waiting during a class.
