$179.00

Description

This is an original 1979 Masters Tournament series badge, issued by Augusta National Golf Club in blue embossed plastic.

The whole face is embossed with the repeating Masters logo, and the club roundel stands proud of the surface at center — it frames up beautifully next to a scorecard or a flag.

What\'s Included
  • One 1979 Masters Tournament series badge, serial number 22391
  • The original safety pin, threaded through the metal grommet
  • No paperwork, envelope, or ticket booklet
Size
  • Badge face is about 3-1/4 x 2-1/4 in (approximate)
  • Light enough to ship free
Condition

Expected light age for a 1979 badge, and no structural damage.

  • Face: colour bright, printing crisp and fully legible
  • Face, lower left: the \"PRICE $45\" legend is lightly rubbed
  • Reverse: faint tan discoloration, a small area mid-panel and a thin line along the lower edge
  • Grommet and top tab: tight and fully seated, no cracking or splitting
  • Corners and edges: all intact, no cracks, splits, chips, or creases
  • Safety pin: original, present, and working
  • From a home where someone smoked; may carry a faint odor

Please see the photos and read the description for full details.

Markings

The face is printed \"THIS BADGE MUST BE DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES\" above \"MASTERS\", with the Augusta National Golf Club roundel at center — a US map outline with a flagstick at Augusta. \"SERIES 1979\" sits to the left, \"APRIL 12-13-14-15\" to the right, the serial number 22391 in red at lower center, and \"PRICE $45\" at lower left. The reverse carries the conditions of use: good for the four days of tournament play, not for the practice rounds. The 1979 wording ends there — it does not carry the \"plus Play-Off if any\" clause the 1970 and 1972 badges use. The badge is not signed and carries no autograph.

About this item

1979 was Fuzzy Zoeller\'s win, in the first sudden-death playoff in Masters history — he beat Ed Sneed and Tom Watson on the second extra hole. Masters badges are collected by year, and each year was issued in its own colour, so the year on the face is what a collector is buying.

Provenance

This is an authentic, original vintage Masters badge - never traded or resold. It was purchased by my grandfather, who lived and golfed in Augusta, Georgia, and it comes straight from the family.
