EXCELLENT 1972 Masters Series Badge Augusta National Jack Nicklaus Win #1788 For Sale

This is an original 1972 Masters Tournament series admission badge from Augusta National Golf Club, on embossed red plastic with yellow-gold printing.

1972 is the year Jack Nicklaus took his fourth Masters title, and this badge still carries its metal grommet and its original safety pin, so it displays exactly as it was issued.

• One 1972 Masters series admission badge, serial number 1788
• The original safety pin, still attached through the top tab
• The metal grommet at the top tab, intact and seated
• Nothing else — no ticket, paperwork, or holder

• About 3.25 by 2.25 inches, plus the pin tab; the measurement is approximate
• Under an ounce; it goes out in a rigid padded mailer

The only wear worth naming is on the plain reverse.

• Reverse: fine light surface scratches across the left half; the printed text is unaffected
• Face: faint gold ink traces in the embossed valleys, from the printing
• Face: the gold printing is complete and crisp, and the embossed diamond field is sharp with no wear-through
• Serial 1788: complete and fully legible
• Card: no cracks, splits, chips, creases or delamination, and all four rounded corners are present
• Hardware: grommet intact and seated; original safety pin attached, bright with light surface marks
• From an estate, from a home where someone smoked, so it may carry a faint odor

The face is printed "THIS BADGE MUST BE DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES" across the top, "MASTERS" in large letters, "SERIES 1972" and "APRIL 6-7-8-9" below that, and "PRICE $25" at the bottom left. The serial number 1788 is printed in silver ink inside its gold box at the bottom centre, and the centre of the badge carries the Augusta National Golf Club emblem as a raised emboss, lettered "AUGUSTA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB".

The gold script at the bottom right is a printed facsimile signature of the club President, with "PRESIDENT" printed beneath it. It is part of the badge's printing and it is not an autograph. The script is not legible enough to attribute, so I am not putting a name to it.

The reverse carries the full printed terms of admission, beginning "This badge is good for the four days of play plus Play-Off if any", with every line complete and readable.

Masters badges are collected by year, and each year was issued in its own colourway — 1972 is the red badge with gold printing. 1972 is also a Nicklaus win year, and those are the years collectors chase in this series.

This is an authentic, original vintage Masters badge - never traded or resold. It was purchased by my grandfather, who lived and golfed in Augusta, Georgia, and it comes straight from the family.
