E. A. W. Budge who was the curator of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum, he also visited Egypt many times to collect items for the British Museum and to learn more about the Ancient Egyptians. This book, probably one of his most famous along with his 1899 Book of the Dead, the papyrus of Ani and Hunefer.
This copy is one I have never seen before with a stunning cover and lots of very useful information. Some of Budges work is now out of date, particularly his work on hieroglyphis, only because the study of this language has continued to expand since his passing.
Books by Budge are still hugely collectable, even a joke about Budge's poor translating was famously in the movie Stargate. Budge to my mind is a cultural icon which is why he is still so collected by those interested in Ancient Egypt.
I would love to travel down the Nile with this book, with its maps of temples and observations of many of the ancient sites, this is still a relevant and useful book even today.
