A beautiful book of Duane Michals early artworks, 1958 - 1984 that were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, England. This book is in Brand New/Fine condition. After it was signed, it was sealed in a plastic wrapper by the book seller and no one, including me, has ever opened it. There are no marks, dents, abrasions. I purchased it as a future collectible and it has been in a dark room ever since. Photos 1 and 2 are the sealed book that you will receive; photos 3 - 9 are taken from a second copy that I have in my personal library.
As a collector of photography, I think that Duane Michals (1932 - present) is one of the most important fine art photographers of the second half of the 20th century. He is given credit for two significant developments in 20th century photography: [1] telling stories through a series of related photographs (sequences), and [2] handwriting text near his photographic images, giving more meaning to the photographic image. Other artists have since followed his lead to also create a sequence of photographs to tell a story, and to handwrite on their photographs as part of the artistic statement. But Duane Michals is given credit for being the first. This is one of Duane Michals\' first published books, and therefore is an important part of the development of his career and the history of photography.
