My rating system for paperback books:
Like new = I didn’t see any dents, bends, scuffs or markingswhen I looked at it. Shiny and pretty.
VG+ = Might have owner’s name or price inside. No damage, noother markings, no fading, no scuffing, no bumping, no browning, no foxing. Notquite shiny, but you could take it off the shelf at a bookstore and not thinktwice.
VG = Book might have fading, some light scuffing or minorbumping to cover. Owner’s name inside. Binding fully intact. Might have lightpage browning. Might be ex-library but VG condition.
Good = Might have light foxing, very minor damage to a pageor two. Might be ex-library with few library markings. Might have a few textmarkings.
Acceptable = Might have binding starting to crack,significant foxing, significant text markings. Might be ex-library with lots oflibrary markings.
Garbage = Full binding separation, foxing to the point ofmildew odor.
