CLIMATIC/HOT AIR CHOKE THERMOSTATS arean essential component of a vehicle’s carburetor system. It controls the idle speed by regulating the opening and closing of the butterfly valve on the carburetor. When the engine is cold, the choke thermostat keeps the valve closed which supplies a richer fuel mixtureto the engine.

COMMON SIGNS OF A FAILINGCHOKE THERMOSTAT:

• Engine will not start when cold:If the choke thermostat fails to close when the engine is cold, it can cause difficulty in starting the engine.
• Stalling:If thechoke thermostat fails to open when the engine is warm, it can cause the engine to stall.
