1985 CHINA PRC J115 (2-1) – 8 FEN LIN ZEXU – SCOTT #1998 – BLOCK OF FOUROffered here is an original 1985 People’s Republic of China J115 (2-1) 8-fen commemorative postage stamp block of four, issued for the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Lin Zexu.This piece consists of four identical 8-fen stamps preserved together as an intact 2×2 block.The stamp is the first design from the two-stamp J115 commemorative issue and is cataloged as Scott #1998. The complete J115 issue was released on August 30, 1985 and consists of this portrait design together with an 80-fen companion stamp depicting the destruction of opium at Humen. The design features a formal portrait of Lin Zexu, the Qing dynasty scholar-official remembered especially for his campaign against the opium trade.
