This is a pair of matching 1963 California license plates. They qualify for CA DMV registration of model years 1963 thru 1969 passenger vehicles. Listing is for the plates only; other items pictured are for demonstration purposes only.Condition
Overall they are in very good condition. The paint is clear and bright, with minor scratches and bends around some mounting holes and where frames have been used. These are original DMV issued steel plates and nest together very well. They both have a signature \"fingerprint\" in the upper right corner edge of the plates; this is a production paint mark during original production. There are 1968 and 1969 stickers in their proper positions.California YOM programThey can be used to register a passenger vehicle model years 1963 thru 1969 in the state of California under the YOM program. A 1963, 1968 or 1969 model year car can use them as is. Other model year cars must have the vehicle\'s proper model year sticker. Stickers are available on other sites. I have not heard of anyone having a problem with the DMV and reproduction stickers, as long as they have the right color and design. You can see the DMV paperwork by going to dmv.ca.gov and search for YOM, look for the PDF file for the form. The form lists the requirements for plates to qualify. Note that although the program is called \"Year of Manufacture\" (YOM), the required license sticker must match the MODEL year of the vehicle to be registered.
1963 through 1969 plates must be in the series AAA000 through YYY999, as shown in a conversation with CA DMV in the last picture.
The DMV will issue the proper month and year stickers when registering.They will also include license toppers to display the current month and year registration stickers as shown in the next-to-last picture, if you do not want to display the current stickers on these plates.
