An Original Civil War era Union Army General Courtmartial Order, issued at HQ, Hilton Head, Sc Sept 26, 1865 chrging Captain Edward S Daniels, 35th US Colored Troop with drunk& disgraceful behavior at Summerville, S.C. including a home invasion where he called the home a "Whore House", and tried to enter the bedrooms of 2 young ladies, calling them "nothing but whores". The General Order details his offenses, sentencing him to dismissal from the service, but the sentence is reduced by General Quincy Gillmore due to his previous good behavior when sober. 2pp ptd, 8 x 5". Minor age stains, 2 small slits in left edge indicating they were originally loosely bound with red cloth tape by a staff officer. , Overall VG. Historic Summerville SC was a place of refuge for plantation families fleeing their homes during the Federal Occupation.
