Unlike the more common geometric Asante designs, this magnificent textile showcases the highly collectible "speckled/tweed" background effect unique to Ewe craftsmanship, created by plying varied dark-grey and white threads together before weaving.The fabric is constructed of individual narrow strips woven expertly on a traditional horizontal treadle loom, then masterfully hand-stitched edge-to-edge to form a single magnificent piece. Vibrant blocks of yellow, green, red, and blue pop beautifully against the rich, dark, textured background field.This piece is incredibly versatile and makes an exceptional statement work of art.
