An antique traditional Egyptian silver Zār amulet is a piece of purpose-made ritual jewelry used during traditional healing and trance ceremonies to pacify spirits or jinn.
Zār Rituals: Zār is not an exorcism; it is a therapeutic musical and dance ceremony meant to conciliate and coexist with a spirit (often called an assyad or master) that has "touched" a person, traditionally women.
Design & Motifs: These traditional silver pieces often feature engravings of the name of God, Qur'anic verses (like the Throne Verse), the Seal of Solomon, or schematic depictions of spirits and animals, accompanied by hanging dangles (galagis) or small bells meant to ward off malevolent forces.
Black Onyx & Materials: like other authentic antique Zār amulets this one is primarily crafted from mid-to-low-grade silver (+800 and unmarked (tribal silver), with a black stone or unknown black material. Probably not black Onyx.
