This beautiful doll is an early portrait of the Frenchfashion doll Jumeau measuring 24\" tall. The doll was manufactured inParis, France, by Jumeau circa the 1870s.
This French Fashion doll has a bisque head andshoulder plate with the original white kid leather body. She has a portraitface with a pressed bisque head and swivel neck.
The head is in excellent condition with no chips,cracks, or repairs and the leather body is quite sturdy. The shoulder platealso has no cracks or repairs. The facehas a closed mouth and set grey blue glass eyes. She retains her original corkpate covered with a hard material that I cannot describe. She has gorgeous palebisque and stunning gray blue paperweight eyes. She has pink eye shadow andclosed lips, pierced ears and swivel neck.
She is in her original kid leather body withreinforcing joints. The body has some wear but is stable and fine for display.It has been reinforced in the palm inside the right hand and with a tiny patchon the back of the left hand.
Dressed in an appropriate period costume of two piecesof original pink cotton muslin, and a lovely matching hat, made in homeworkshop, the workmanship is exceptional. She is shown with a wig of naturalreddish blonde hair. She has antique underwear, socks and satin shoes of homemaking. Her hat is a work of art in itself.
