Antique handmade child’s cloth scrapbook dating approximately 1915–1925. Large album contains 32 cloth pages decorated with dozens of period paper cutouts, illustrations, advertising images, children, animals, holiday scenes, soldiers, nurses and other early 20th-century ephemera. The name “NANCY” is applied to the front cover, likely designating the original child that made this priceless antiquity.
This is definitely an unusual homemade folk-art style scrapbook rather than a commercially printed cloth book. The individual images appear to have been collected from magazines, advertisements, cards, newspapers and similar period sources and pasted onto fabric pages. Each page is a different theme or style of art.
Album, being over 100 years old, shows considerable age and use, including staining and discoloration to the cloth, fraying and edge wear, creases, and several damaged or partially torn paper illustrations. Most contents remain intact. Please examine photographs carefully for condition.
I think I paged through 32 cloth pages total. As stated, it is Circa 1920. This is truly a One-of-a-kind piece of early childhood, advertising and paper-ephemera history.
