Antique American cast-iron hotel receipt spike/bill holder, dating to approximately the late 1800s to early 1900s. Measuring approximately 7” high with a 3” hexagonal base, this wonderful piece of early hotel and mercantile history retains its distinctive old green-painted finish and is marked “MADE IN U.S.A.” on the underside.
This piece comes from a family associated with the hotel business in the Virginia/Pennsylvania area.
The heavy cast-iron base has attractive raised geometric decoration and six openings surrounding the central steel spike with an aged green finish.
Condition: Shows expected age-related wear, oxidation, paint wear and surface variation consistent with an old working piece.
Great for the hotel-history, mercantile, general-store, or antique-office collector.
