The Effie Mona Mack Estate: Antiques and Historical Items
In 2005, I purchased the entire estate of Effie Mona Mack and her niece. This remarkable estate contained an extensive collection of furniture, books, manuscripts, jewelry, personal belongings, and many other antiques and historical items.
Effie Mona Mack (1888–1969) was a noted Nevada historian, educator, author, and benefactor of the University of Nevada. She is especially remembered for her writings about Mark Twain and his years in Virginia City and other parts of Nevada. Her published works include the difficult-to-find History of Nevada and The Indian Massacre of 1911 at Little High Rock Canyon, Nevada.
The Mack family was one of Nevada’s early and prominent families. Over the years, its members appear to have collected a fascinating variety of objects. I will be offering many of these beautiful, unusual, and historically interesting items for sale on .
Unfortunately, detailed records were not available for every item. Some pieces may be quite old, while others may be more recent. Unless specifically stated, the exact age, maker, and history of an item should not be assumed.
I will do my best to identify and accurately describe every item offered. I am a retired bench jeweler and diamond and gemstone setter, as well as a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
