A rare and elegant piece of 1920s writing history — this is an early Wahl gold-filled chatelaine fountain pen, marked “WAHL / GOLD FILLED MADE IN USA / PAT. APP’D FOR” on the cap end.What makes this pen exceptional is the chatelaine bail (hanging ring) at the top of the cap, designed to be suspended from a watch chain, ribbon, or chatelaine necklace — a fashionable ladies’ accessory of the era. This feature places it among the most collectible Wahl variants produced. The entire pen is covered in a fine engine-turned geometric/herringbone pattern gold-filled overlay. The lever-fill mechanism is present and seems functional.
