A set of six antique Victorian silverplate combination napkin rings with integrated epergne etched-glass trumpet vases, featuring the intricate geometric engraving and botanical decoration associated with the late nineteenth-century Aesthetic Movement.Each napkin ring rests on four rounded ball feet and is embellished with stylized quatrefoils, radiating lines and finely detailed zigzag borders. Rising from each is an elegant trumpet-shaped bud vase combining frosted and clear glass, with delicate floral vines, draped swags and a dotted geometric border around its flared rim.The contrasting glass finishes and elaborate metalwork reflect the Victorian fascination with ornamenting even the most practical household objects. Both functional and decorative, these ingenious pieces were designed to hold a cloth napkin and a small arrangement of fresh flowers at each place setting. Manufacturer unknown.The undersides bear different stamped numbers, including 15, 18, 21, 24 and 25. These may be factory production, inventory or assembly numbers. Their nonconsecutive sequence raises the possibility that the pieces originally belonged to a larger set, perhaps comprising 12 or 24 place settings. However, the purpose of the numbering and the original size of the set remain unknown.No identifiable manufacturer’s mark has been found.ConditionRemarkably good antique condition overall, particularly considering the age and delicate construction of the pieces.The silverplate has been lightly polished but deliberately not brought to a brilliant shine for photography, leaving further polishing to the new owner’s preference. Some tarnish remains.All six glass vases appear intact. I carefully ran my finger around every rim and detected no chips or fleabites. Several would benefit from additional cleaning, and one sits slightly crooked.I have avoided vigorous cleaning or polishing, preferring to leave any further attention to the new owner.
