Beautiful antique Victorian mourning brooch dating to approximately the mid to late 1800s. Gold filled oval brooch features a central Christian cross surrounded by a black enamel leafy wreath, created in the traditional taille d'épargne technique. Fine engraved and textured gold decoration gives the small brooch wonderful detail. The black and gold palette and cross motif are characteristic of Victorian mourning and sentimental jewelry. A wonderful piece for collectors of Victorian, mourning, religious or Gothic jewelry.
