This was included with some estate jewelry, I don\'t know the age but these types of bracelets date back to the Victorian era. I don\'t know what the beads are made of. The bracelet is very light weight and looks to be carved and not molded. I tested it with a hot needle and it did not penetrate or melt the bead. I tried the scratch test on a piece of tile and the scratch mark was a dark gray color, not the reddish as true jet is supposed to be. I am stumped as to what it is made of and the exact era. It could be Bakelite but it doesn\'t smell like it when warmed. The wire is pretty rusty so it seems old.Now to the obvious damage, the head is broken. There is a piece in the back that has been broken off so it can\'t be easily re-attached. It is possible to glue it back on with some good jeweler\'s glue but of course that is up to the new owner. Otherwise it is in good condition. The eyes are a little scratched looking. I think there is some old glue residue where there might have been rhinestones at one time. Still a very cool bracelet!It looks almost identical to the jet bracelet featured on page 83 of the book JET by Helen Muller.
