Antique ladies\' coat by Printzess (Printz-Biederman Co., Cleveland), circa 1897–1905, with the original \"Printzess – Distinction in Dress\" label. It\'s made of heavy black wool with a dramatic layered cape collar, satin piping throughout, a fitted princess-seamed back that flares at the hips, full sleeves with pleated detail at the elbow, and deep turned-back cuffs. It fastens with mother-of-pearl buttons and is lined in black silk satin.
A beautiful turn-of-the-century piece for collectors, display, historical costuming, or theater.
Measurements (approximate):
Shoulders: 16½\" across the back, laid flat
Pit to pit: 15½\" (about a 31\" bust, a petite size)
Sleeve: 23\" from shoulder to cuff edge
Front length: 34\" from collar to hem
Back length: 32\"
Condition: Good antique condition for its age, about 120+ years old. Sold as-is:
Satin piping worn through to the tan cord along the cuffs, front edges, collar edges, neckline, and lower back seams, with fraying at the cuff corners
A few small moth holes in the upper back below the collar
Some wear at one front buttonhole
Lining is mostly intact with a nice sheen, with minor wear
Wool is solid overall, with no thin or bald areas
