Beautiful antique fur hand muff dating approximately 1890–1920, with c. 1900–1910 being a likely period based on comparable museum examples.
This traditional cylindrical or “barrel muff” was designed to keep the hands warm and retains its original cylindrical storage container, a wonderful feature that is often missing from surviving antique muffs.
The muff features rich dark brown natural fur with a soft, dense appearance and a mauve/dusty rose gathered fabric lining around the hand openings. The muff fits inside the cylindrical case for storage.
