“THE NEW FOLDING DOLLHOUSE”
Offered is an antique Victorian lithographed dollhouse manufactured by McLoughlin Bros., N.Y., patented Jan. 30th, 1894.
There are four pairs of folded panels in the doll house, which open to reveal four separate rooms. The dollhouse is constructed much like a book. The panels are made of a sturdy, hard cardboard, covered with beautifully lithographed paper, joined together by a red cloth binding. When fully opened, the dollhouse measures approximately. 24.25 inches square at the base, and 12.25 inches tall at the top of the walls. Each panel measures approx. 12-1/8 inches square. The dollhouse’s original box measures approx. 13” square. The dollhouse panels are in very good condition, having light soiling and wear commensurate with age and use. There are a few small child-sized fingerprints, and a very small discolored square that may be remnants of an old tag or bit of tape. The lithographed box cover and original box are in fair condition, as shown, having wear and soiling, including water damage to the upper right corner of the box, as shown, and soiling inside the box, also shown. The box still retains its original label with instructions for opening and closing the dollhouse.
