There are 7 of these beautiful metal buttons that date back to the late 1800s. I researched to try and find the actual design/image on the buttons and could not find anything. The buttons appear to have flowers around the edge and the center design could be a face with a mustache or possibly an owl if turned in another direction.
The back of the button is marked with T. W & W H M Paris, Brevete.
T W & W stands for Trelon, Weldon & Weil. H M stands for Hartog and Marchand. This marking dates the buttons from 1865-1902. The word Brevete is French for Patent(ed). The button is approximate 5/8” in size – a bit smaller than the size of a dime.
The buttons are all the same color but some photograph to look more gold while the majority appear more silver. A couple of the buttons do have a few green spots. One of the button loops is flattened down in the back and can most likely be corrected but I did not try to adjust anything due to their age.
