For sale is an antique Royal Worcester sauce tureen with its original lid, styled in a late-Victorian interpretation of the traditional Japanese Imari aesthetic.
Form and Function: A small table tureen designed for serving hot sauces or gravies.
Design Features: The lid features a molded, gilded handle and a notched opening designed to neatly accommodate the stem of a serving ladle.
Gilding and Handles: The stylized acanthus leaf and scrolling forms on both the tureen's side handles and the lid's finial are heavily accented with bright gold gilding.
Pattern Characteristics Color Palette: The design relies on a striking iron-red (burnt orange) and black enamel color scheme set against a clean white porcelain background.
