Richter Mchn" directly on the canvas canvas to indicate the artist's studio in Munich. Please note that this is the sought-after 19th-century German landscape artist Julius Richter working out of the Bavarian Munich School tradition circa 1880–1900, not the later 20th-century American surgeon and painter of the same name who is often incorrectly auto-filled by online listing templates. The artwork itself beautifully depicts a family of wild mountain goats, or chamois, gathered on a rugged rocky ledge looking out over a vast, foggy alpine valley.You can really see the authentic antique quality when you look at it up close, from the tiny aged cracks in the paint to the way the heavy canvas is hand-tacked to the original wooden stretcher bars with old iron nails instead of staples.
