Antique wooden mallard drake hunting decoy believed to be a Mason Decoy Factory example from Detroit, Michigan.
Solid wood construction with inset glass eyes, carved/formed mallard profile, old painted surface and original-style working rigging/metal weight on the underside.
This is a genuine old working decoy showing extensive evidence of use and age. Paint has substantial wear, flaking and loss throughout. There is exposed wood on the head, bill and tail. Neck filler is substantially missing/deteriorated with separation visible around the head/neck joint. Bill and tail show considerable wear. Bottom retains metal ballast/weight and remnants of old rigging.
The surface has NOT been cleaned, refinished or restored by us. It is being offered exactly as found.
Attribution to Mason is based on construction and characteristics; no visible Mason factory stamp or signature has been located, so please review all photographs and make your own determination regarding maker and age.
