A wonderful graphite and watercolor sketch on artist paper by well listed PUNCH illustrator John Leech, circa 1850s. It is signed J. Leech lower left and the drawing is titled verso “Sheet 4, No. 6”. The drawing depicts an artist painting on a high bench while a discussion is going on among other men surrounded by paintings. It is done in his typical style, but this drawing is certainly one of his better examples! Condition is good for age with typical toning, scattered areas of foxing, normal wear from handling, etc. Please see all photos for condition. A great piece to add to your collection!
