Antique / vintage Japanese stoneware pottery set consisting of a square bowl and matching handled pitcher.
Both pieces feature expressive hand-painted scholar figures and abstract decorative elements in turquoise, blue, red, brown, cream, and green tones over a heavily crackled glazed surface.
The set was acquired at sale and was cataloged by the sale house as:
“Antique Ogata Kenzan Stoneware Pitcher And Bowl.”
The decoration, crackle glaze, and figural style are consistent with pottery made in the Ogata Kenzan / Kenzan-style tradition.
