An unusual antique Japanese cloisonné tripod vessel dating to the Meiji period, circa late 19th to early 20th century.
The cylindrical body is finely decorated with a continuous dragon twisting through colorful clouds against a sparkling dark-green aventurine-style enamel ground. Delicate wirework defines the dragon’s scales, facial features, clouds, and surrounding ornamentation.
The upper and lower borders feature turquoise enamel decorated with delicate flowers and scrolling vines. The vessel is raised upon three dramatic outward-curving scroll legs, each decorated with colorful floral cloisonné panels. The combination of the cylindrical body, three sculptural legs, continuous dragon decoration, and sparkling green ground gives this small piece a particularly distinctive appearance.
The interior is finished in deep-green enamel, while the underside displays its naturally aged metal surface. No maker’s mark was located.
A charming and highly decorative example of Japanese Meiji-period cloisonné craftsmanship, ideally sized for a cabinet collection or refined Asian-art display.
