This listing is for an antique Japanese iron tsuba featuring a subtle gourd and plant motif, surrounded by a contrasting brass-colored fukurin rim.
The iron surface has a distinctive fine radiating texture, creating an understated but attractive appearance. Simple engraved designs appear across the plate, including what appears to be a gourd together with stylized leaves and plant forms.
The outer edge is fitted with a yellow-metal fukurin (rim covering), which provides an attractive contrast against the dark iron surface. The main plate is magnetic, while the yellow-colored rim is non-magnetic and appears to be brass or a similar copper alloy.
The nakago-ana retains old adjustment inserts and visible traces of previous fitting, indicating that the piece was once mounted and used.
