A beautiful Victorian-era pair that has watched generations pass by, these lovingly hand-enhanced portraits preserve not only two faces but also the mystery of the family story they carried with them.
These antique portrait enlargements depict a husband and wife identified as Wright and are presented together in a vintage carved wooden frame with archival-style matting. Originally created from photographs and artistically enhanced by hand using graphite and watercolor, this style of portrait—often called a crayon portrait—was a popular Victorian memorial and family keepsake during the late 19th century.
Each portrait measures approximately 8 x 10 inches, while the carved wooden frame measures approximately 15 x 12 inches overall. The reverse of the gentleman\'s portrait bears a handwritten note reading \"Wyandott Indian,\" adding an interesting piece of provenance for future research. Because this notation cannot be independently verified, it is being presented solely as found.

Overall good antique condition with age-related wear. The portraits show toning, foxing, edge wear, corner losses, light staining, and handling wear consistent with age. The handwritten family name \"Wright\" appears beneath both portraits. They are attractively matted and housed in a vintage carved wooden frame that displays beautifully with expected wear from age.
