A striking antique hand-carved storage chest with exceptionally detailed relief decoration across the lid, front and side panels.
The exterior features elaborate traditional scenes with figures, birds, foliage, landscapes and architectural elements, surrounded by deeply carved floral and foliate borders.
The extensive carving gives this piece tremendous decorative presence, with virtually every visible exterior surface richly detailed.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a spacious natural wood interior, making this an impressive statement piece as well as highly practical storage furniture.
Finished with aged brass hardware, a decorative central brass lock plate and beautifully carved raised feet.
The rich dark finish and naturally aged patina complement the deep carving beautifully.
