Beautiful and exceptionally rare early 20th-century antique German holiday ornament!
This charming Putz-style miniature Santa Claus doubles as a soft-bodied candy container or treat pouch.
Fabric sack filled with paper stuffing - back in the early 1900's , these were sometimes constructed as candy containers where the sack could be filled with small treats or sweets before being tied shut and hung from a Christmas tree branch!
This one has all original materials.
* Face: Expertly molded paper-mâché / composition face featuring fine hand-painted details.
* Beard & Hands: Crafted from classic period-accurate spun cotton / wool trim.
* Body: A soft, salmon-pink ( or faded red ) fabric sack filled with scrap paper stuffing. Features a top hanging loop and a string tie at the base of the bag.
This santa has been preserved well . There aren't any stains, rips or odors.
