A highly sculptural and visually striking German figural porcelain vase/ewer, attributed to Rudolf Wächter, a noted early 20th century porcelain manufacturer working in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil tradition.
The composition is exceptionally dynamic, featuring a powerful eagle with wings fully outstretched, gripping a coiled serpent in its beak. The serpent rises upward behind the vessel, creating a dramatic vertical counterpoint that enhances the sense of movement and tension throughout the piece.
The central vase is richly modeled with paneled decoration, accented with gilding and applied turquoise enamel beads, offering a refined contrast to the naturalistic ivory and earth-toned treatment of the eagle. The sculptural quality is the defining feature here — this is not a typical decorative porcelain, but a true display piece with strong visual presence.
The underside bears the “RW” crowned shield mark, associated with Rudolf Wächter, along with an impressed model number 2903, confirming early 20th century production.
