A beautiful, authentic 19th-century French opaline glass decorative double basket. Commonly known as a vide-poche (\"empty pocket\") or trinket dish, this exquisite piece hails from the Napoleon III / early Art Nouveau era.Design & Craftsmanship:. Features a stunning, hand-blown double-lobed pocket design made of vibrant blue opalescent milk glass with delicately ruffled, scalloped rims. The glass pockets are cradled securely by an intricate, hand-twisted gilded brass or bronze wirework frame. The frame wraps elegantly around the center, culminating in a beautiful overhead handle adorned with a stamped metal flower and textured leaves.In keeping with standard production practices of 19th-century French glassworks (such as Baccarat or Saint-Louis), this piece is entirely unmarked. The glass is held strictly via the tension of the antique wireframe without modern glues or fasteners.Dimensions: Approximately 6” tall and squeezed to an inch or so in the center. Base is 4”.
