A beautiful rare and authentic 19th Century Orjol cruche from Southwest France with Yellow glaze. Ewers like these were used for fetching water from the village fountain for domestic use. The form features two handles flanking either side of the opening at the top. With a weathered patina, this pot measures approx. 33cm tall and 30cm wide (handle to spout).
One handle features a twisted form and the other features a spout.Hand made, the glazing process created the characterful markings. This pot has markings and patina in keeping with its age and use, including rim and body chips and wear, as pictured. The bottom is beautifully worn from repeated pouring over time. A lovely addition to any home.
