Antique Female Bust Cast Marble Composite Victorian 19th/Early 20th C 8\" For Sale

Beautiful antique bust of a young woman with an intricately styled upswept hairstyle, headband, softly bowed head, and draped clothing with a gathered bow/knot at the center.

This is a substantial, solid piece measuring approximately 8\" tall and weighing approximately 3 lb 2 oz. The material is extremely dense and hard with a matte ivory/cream appearance. It appears to be a cast marble/mineral composition, sometimes referred to as bonded marble, marble composite, or cast stone.

The bust is unmarked, and the exact maker, country of origin, and date are unknown. Based on the sculptural style, construction, and estate provenance, it appears consistent with a late 19th to early 20th century piece, possibly circa 1890–1920. It was acquired from an estate containing numerous 19th-century and other early antiques.

The piece shows age-related surface discoloration/patina and minor imperfections consistent with age and its cast construction.
