This is a stunning fan. It’s beautifully handcrafted and ornamented, depicting a farm scene. Painted on the fabric: “La vuelta del trabajo, E. Lebat.” Also includes a signature, likely that of the painter of the fan.
Mounted in a shadowbox by Sungott Art Studios, New York. Although Sungott specialized in mass produced moderately valued home decor items in the mid-20th century, this fan exhibits certain elements of elevated craftsmanship and quality materials. Appears to be handpainted on linen.
The Shadowbox has not been opened, and therefore the fan has not been examined except under glass. Some semi-opaque spots noted on the inside of the glass. One small chip to the top of the frame. Otherwise appears to be in very fine condition. The seller is not an expert in folding fans and cannot certify the age or origin of the item.
