Measuring approximately 12” in height, this wooden Santos has all of the great characteristics of an age worthy piece: the visible gesso, evidence of multiple coats of paint ( polychrome) , strong evidence of a fine patina. This Christian statue is a tribute to The Blessed Mother Mary. The exterior color of her cloak, being blue, represents the purity, and innocence of the “heavens above “ while the lining is a deep red signifying the Blood of Christ.
