Measuring approximately 17” x 17” x 10”, this large basket was designed as a functional carrying or storage vessel. It features a wooden stave-style body, fitted wooden bottom, exterior binding, and an impressive tall handle with a shaped handhold.
What really makes this piece stand out is its authentic aged character. The wood has developed a rich dark brown patina with lighter areas where generations of wear have exposed the natural wood beneath. Scratches, finish loss, checking, small splits, irregularities, and other evidence of age remain visible throughout.
Rather than looking like modern reproduction décor, this basket has the wonderfully imperfect appearance collectors seek in old utilitarian woodenware.
