A beautiful late Qing dynasty Chinese Manchu lady’s summer robe, worked in a fine pink silk gauze.
The lightweight, semi-transparent pink gauze ground is woven throughout with subtle tone-on-tone dragon roundels, visible as the light catches the fabric. The robe is richly embellished with contrasting dark silk panels embroidered with birds, butterflies, flowers and foliage in shades of blue, green, pink and purple. Further pale silk borders are embroidered with pink roses and trailing foliage, with embroidered ivory cuffs completing the sleeves.
Of traditional Manchu form, with wide sleeves, asymmetric front fastening and gilt metal buttons.

Condition: Good antique condition overall, with some minor scattered staining/spotting and a small number of pinholes to the fine gauze, commensurate with age and the delicate nature of the textile. Slight fading to the front compared to the back. Please refer to the detailed photographs.
