Antique Chinese bronze Buddha seated on horse, an abstract stylized sculpture.

The horse is built on an elongated, flat-backed body carried on four long straight legs, each finished with ringed hooves. The neck rises in a tall arch with deeply ribbed banding and a serrated crest running along the top, ending in a long head with a ringed eye and flared nostrils. The tail is formed as a slender rod that sweeps down and loops back to join the rear leg. Incised hatched borders run along the body, chest, and legs.

The Buddha sits upright on a saddle with upturned points front and back, with a tall topknot and an incised robe. He grips a twisted rope rein that runs forward to the horse\'s neck and holds a long curved staff across his body.

The finish is a silvery bronze tone with polished high points and darker aged patina settled into the recesses, giving the casting strong contrast and depth.

Marks: incised on the horse\'s flank near the neck, a capital D with an extended vertical stroke, followed by a looped symbol with a crossbar through the stem, and a small punched dot.

Pre-owned, very good antique condition. Casting porosity and rough, uneven seams are visible where the rein and neck join the body. Scattered fine surface scratches on the body, including a thin scratch line across the flank near the marks. Patina is uneven, with brighter polished high points and darker aged residue in the recesses. No breaks or repairs visible.
