Antique Cast Iron Oval Jardinière, Floral Garland Relief, Foliate Scroll Handles For Sale

A substantial oval cast iron jardinière, the body deeply cast with a continuous floral garland relief of roses and blossoms beneath a scalloped rim, flanked by foliate scroll handles. The pedestal base sits on splayed legs terminating in paw feet. Surface is silver-white painted, with honest wear at the base and rim and rust showing through where paint has thinned. Drainage holes in the base confirm original use as a planter. A cast number (\"104,\" partially worn) and a circular foundry medallion appear on the interior base; the medallion is too worn to read and origin (French or American) is unconfirmed. Genuinely heavy, solid cast iron construction — worth noting for shipping. 8.5 × 22.5 × 10 in.
